The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC)-Tawi-Tawi participates in a Forum On Consumer Education Awareness and Protection conducted by Ministry of Trade Investment and Tourism in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month with a theme today October 25, 2021 at Rachel’s Place Hotel and Restaurant, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
In celebration of the 2021 Consumer Celebration Month, the Bangsamoro Youth Commission together various offices, and agencies participated the Forum on Consumer Education Awareness and Protection led by the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism held at Rachel’s Place Hotel and Restaurant, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Monday, October 25.
The activity, themed “Digital Consumers: The New Normal”, shed light on various topics including Understanding Halal, Consumer Awareness on Halal-Foods and Other Essential Products, Adapting to the New Normal: Health and Safety Measures, Digital Literacy and Online Marketing Awareness, and lastly Salient Features of Consumer Act of the Philippines and FairTrade Laws.
Further, the activity also conducted school-based competitions such as essay writing, poster making and quiz bee which provided space for the youth to express their expertise anchored with the said commemoration.
The National Consumer Welfare Month was designed to create awareness and promotion of information such as complaints and policies affecting consumers that would later on encourage dialogues and cooperation among consumers, business and government agencies.
This years’ celebration focuses in advocating consumer education, welfare, and protection through intensive information drives aimed at capacitating consumers in navigating to the digital world. (BYC PR Section)
