BYC conducts forum on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism

Fifty youth leaders from various organizations participated in the Forum on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism led by the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Tawi-Tawi on Monday, November 8 at Beach Side Inn Hotel and Restaurant, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

BYC Tawi-Tawi Commissioner Pratima Sabal Samsaraji said that the Bangsamoro Government is prioritizing the vulnerable sectors especially the youth and the indigenous peoples community, and that BARMM government is doing all its effort in combating the prevalence of violent extremism.

“The Government of the Day is promoting inclusivity. As we see, the IP Community has two seats in the Parliament. In the Bangsamoro Youth Commission, we are about to appoint one ex officio commissioner representing IPs. This is a government that leaves no one behind,” Commissioner Samsaraji said.

PSSg Abdurackib A. Omar of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP SAF) provided a concise background and history of their duties and mandate, programs, and accomplishments through a video presentation.

He also elucidated the continuing efforts of the PNP SAF in maintaining Tawi-Tawi as a peaceful province in the Bangsamoro region.

Moreover, he discussed the radical justification of some groups that originate violent extremism to educate the participants in preventing and countering such act. He provided awareness on the radical justification of some groups that originate violent extremism.

During the forum, a series of questions were raised by the participants mainly in the five areas of youth participation stipulated in the Bangsamoro Youth Transition Priority Agenda. (BYC PR Section)
