BYC meets with Netherlands ambassador to the PH

COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to the Philippines on Wednesday, November 17 at Crystal Hall, Em Manor, in Cotabato City.

Facilitated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the meeting was held between BYC Chairperson Marjanie Macasalong with BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding and Netherlands Ambassador to the Philippines Saskia De Lang with Senior Policy Officer Jaymie Ann Reyes.

The meeting centered on the discussion on important issues concerning the youth in the Bangsamoro region.

Chairperson Macasalong highlighted that the Bangsamoro Government is giving the Bangsamoro youth a significant role in nation-building and governance. He added that the manifestation of such is the immediate creation of the BYC that serves as the primary policy-making and coordinating body of all youth-related institutions and programs.

He also emphasized the different programs being implemented by the Commission through the support of various partners and other stakeholders, which include inculcating the spirit of volunteerism and fostering the culture of peace among the youth.

Meanwhile, Ambassador De Lang asked Chairperson Macasalong about his vision of the Bangsamoro region three years from now.

“With this dedication that we all have, I think three years from now, we will see [the] Bangsamoro region very different from what we saw before. From the infrastructures to other programs of the government of today, we really see the difference,” Chairperson Macasalong replied.

Chairperson Macasalong extends his heartfelt gratitude to Chetan Kumar, leader of UNDP Peace Programme Team, and to Selva Ramachandran, UNDP resident representative in the Philippines. (BYC PR Section)
