BYC Commissioner Dunding to receive UNESCO Public Servant in Good Governance award

TAWI-TAWI—Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) is one of the awardees of the 2021 Outstanding UNESCO Club Public Servant in Good Governance.

After receiving multiple nominations from different youth organizations, the National Coordinating Body of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines approved the conferment of the award to Commissioner Dunding who represents the youth in the province of Maguindanao with Cotabato City and Special Geographic Areas of North Cotabato.

Each year, the National Coordinating Body of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines accepts nominations for outstanding youth leaders, young professionals, educators, cultural workers, frontliners, and local government units to acknowledge their individual contributions and recognize their influence in their respective institutions and communities.

Before working at BYC, Commissioner Dunding worked with different organizations with several advocacies including peacebuilding, conflict transformation, youth development and empowerment, political empowerment, and leadership and management.

“We are beyond overwhelmed seeing the progress and innovativeness of young people in our context in continuing and promoting peace engagements and advocacies,” Commissioner Dunding said.

The BYC shall be the primary policy-making and coordinating body of the Bangsamoro Government in all matters affecting the youth. It provides leadership in the formulation and initiation of regional policies and plans, and in the setting of priorities and direction on youth promotion and development programs and activities.

“The youth is one of our powerful and vital sectors in nation-building and it is one of our Commission’s continuing pursuits to represent their narratives, both issues and successes in moving forward towards the journey of the peace process,” Commissioner Dunding added.

The awarding will happen via Zoom teleconferencing during the 2021 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) with the support of the Philippine National Commission of UNESCO on December 10-12. (BYC PR Section)
