200 youth receive relief assistance from BYC

MAGUINDANAO—As part of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s (BYC) celebration of the 3rd founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro Government, the Commission continued its rollout distribution of Lingkod Kabataan Bangsamoro (LKB) to 200 youth in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao.

The distribution of the LKB relief items was led by BYC Chairperson Marjanie Macasalong on Thursday, January 20, along with BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding representing Maguindanao with Cotabato City and Special Geographic Areas; BYC Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil representing Basilan; BYC Commissioner Mohammad Faizal Alih representing Sulu; and BYC Commissioner Pratima Samsaraji representing Tawi-Tawi.

Facilitated by the Sangguniang Kabataang (SK) Federation of Datu Salibo, over 200 youths from different barangays of the town received the humanitarian assistance.

Chairperson Marjanie Macasalong said the assistance aims to help the Bangsamoro youth hurdle socio-economic setbacks brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He emphasized that the assistance is a manifestation of the Bangsamoro Government’s effort to bring the Government closer to the people in the grassroots.

“Ang Bangsamoro Government ay sinusubukan po namin ilapit sa ating lahat dahil bunga po ito ng ating pakikibaka sa loob ng apat na dekada,” he said.

“Pumunta po kami para maramdaman at makita niyo na nag-iba ho ang gobyerno natin ngayon. Mayron na tayong Bangsamoro Government ngayon na kami na ho ang lumalapit sa inyo upang iabot kung ano man ho ang serbisyo ng ating Gobyerno,” Chairperson Macasalong added.

The LKB is the BYC’s relief assistance that aims to reach 2,500 vulnerable youth across the region’s five provinces and opt-in areas as part of its efforts to lessen the adverse effects of the pandemic.

The program started its first wave in 2020 since the beginning of lockdown and border limits due to the Covid-19. It already reached more than 200 youth organizations with more than 1,000 youth individuals.

The BYC has lined up its activities for the celebration that include Memorandum of Understanding with several development partners, distribution of relief assistance dubbed ‘Lingkod Kabataang Bangsamoro’, micro-enterprise seed fund distribution dubbed ‘Alay Kabuhayan Program para sa Kabataang Nangangailangan’, Youth Online Conversation, BYC En banc session, and a youth networking program named ‘2nd As-Shabāb Grand Kanduli.’ (BYC PR Unit)
