BYC joins General Multaqah in Buldon

MAGUINDANAO—As part of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s (BYC) celebration of the 3rd founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro Government, The Commission attended the 5th General Multaqah (Assembly) of Buldon Youth Affairs (BYA) on Friday, January 21, at Brgy. Minabay, Buldon, Maguindanao.

The delegation was led by Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong. Also present in the program were BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding representing Maguindanao with Cotabato City and Special Geographic Areas; BYC Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil representing Basilan; BYC Commissioner Mohammad Faizal Alih representing Sulu; and BYC Commissioner Pratima Samsaraji representing Tawi-tawi.

The General Multaqah is a regular program of BYA, a BYC-accredited youth organization, where local Islamic scholars are invited to give lectures to the community, particularly the youth.

Chairperson Macasalong said he chose to spend the last day of the Bangsamoro Government’s founding anniversary in the municipality as it carries a memorable history during the 2000 all-out war against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“During that time, I was only above 10 years old, and yet I with my peers of same age already witnessed those civilians who had to shelter themselves in the school buildings that became evacuation centers,” he added.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding emphasized the role of Bangsamoro youth to “sustain, strengthen and protect the grains of Bangsamoro peace process.”

“Kasama po namin kayo; kailangan po namin kayo. Yung mga kabataan ngayon, napakarami po nating pweding gawin para makatulong po tayo doon sa pagpapatatag ng ating Gobyerno,” he said.

The program was attended by over a thousand participants, including youth, women and religious leaders, from different barangays of Buldon municipality. (BYC PR Unit)
