COTABATO CITY — On Bangsamoro Youth Hours’ 16th episode on Thursday, April 21, a youth advocate shared the vision of their newly built organization, their advocacy, and how they managed to overcome organizational challenges.
Somaiyah Padilla, president of Association of Daring and Hospitable Individuals for the Poverty Affected Sector of the Society (ADHIKA), highlighted several initiatives of their organization as centered on providing humanitarian assistance to the marginalized sector of the community.
The organization envisions to mitigate poverty in Cotabato communities through reaching out the marginalized sector, especially the youth, and to raise awareness on social issues that matter.
Some of ADHIKA’s initiatives include outreach programs, clean-up drive, and tree planting, among others. Also, in the month of Ramadhan, a series of iftaar is being conducted to identified orphanage centers.
Padilla also shared the struggles experienced by the organization and how they were able to overcome. She cited the limited manpower of the ADHIKA caused setbacks in implementing their initiatives to other barangays. Membership drives were made, according to Padilla, in order to grow their manpower and be able to reach more youth.
Concluding her talk, Padilla encouraged her fellow youth to aspire more of their life pursuits and never forget to make efforts in the community — pointing that age does not matter in providing selfless service to the needy.
