COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), took part in the brown bag forum dubbed “Pathways for Gender and Youth Engagement in the Governance of Bangsamoro” organized by the Forum of Federations-Philippines on Tuesday, May 31, in Cotabato City.
During the forum, BYC representative Settie Ivy Ampatuan shared insights on youth engagements in Bangsamoro governance.
Ampatuan said the youth should acknowledge the process of governance.
“May proseso ang lahat ng bagay; may proseso ang pag-go-gobyerno,” she noted.
She added the youth should always “look into the process kung saan lulugar.”
“Be part of the decision-making bodies. Utilize your youth organizations for you to write policy agenda at doon sa mga stand niyo sa issues na meron tayo sa BARMM,” she noted.
She also encouraged the youth participants to “always look into each other”.
“Baka masyado na tayong nagpu-push ng ating agenda [pero] on the other side naiiwan natin ang mga kasama natin.”
“Hindi maganda tignan na ang isang youth organization ay nagpu-push ng agenda for equality pero hindi nila tinitignan ang inclusivity,” Ampatuan said.
The participants were also oriented by several resourse speakers on gender-responsive legistalation, governance and leadership, and women and youth inclusivity in governance.
The program was organized by the Forum of Federations-Philippines in partnership with Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) and Bangsamoro Youth Commssion (BYC).
