GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 12, 2022) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) along with officials from various ministries and offices underwent Information Officers’ Communication Advocacy on Sept. 5-10 at Grand Summit Hotel in this city.
The five-day training was participated by a total of 77 information officers from different BARMM offices and institutions. It was spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) under the Special Development Fund- Project Management Office (SDF-PMO).
The said activity aims to capacitate BARMM IOs with the knowledge and skills on effective communication using right approaches and techniques particular in fundamentals of journalism and documentation of best practices in implementing programs, projects, activities under the SDF.
“It is an important duty of an information officer to provide the right and accurate information to the public. This training opens opportunity for BARMM IOs to equip themselves with the technical know-how of effective communication, and be able to write and publish success stories in the implementation of the SDF initiatives,” said BPDA Director and SDF-PMO for Coordination Melanie Indar.
“May this experience further your skills in various forms of communication and documentation to properly promote all the interventions conducted and realized by the Bangsamoro Government,” she added.
Among the topics covered include: Review on Writing with Purpose, Revisiting Communication Principles, Non-Violent Communication, Photo Journalism, and Documentation of Best Practices.
The SDF is an appropriated fund of the National Government to the Bangsamoro Government for the purpose of rebuilding, rehabilitation, and development of its conflict-affected communities in accordance with Section 2, Article XIV of the Bangsamoro Organic Law otherwise known Republic Act No. 11054.
