Sons, daughters of MILF, MNLF receive relief packs from BYC

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 14, 2022) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Basilan with Lamitan City continued its rollout distribution of relief packs to vulnerable youths on Wednesday, September 14 at Magcawa, in Al-Barka.

A total of 60 youth beneficiaries who are sons and daughters of members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the province of Basilan were given with relief assistance under BYC’s ‘Lingkod Kabataang Bangsamoro’ program.

Led by Project Development Officer Abdul Patta J. Asnawi from the Office of the Commissioner for Basilan with Lamitan City, reiterated that the Commission is an office responsible for policy-making and coordinating body in all matter related to youth, and not an implementing body.

“We are here to serve and reach you out in addressing your needs and concerns not only here in your municipality but also in all seven municipalities of Basilan under the umbrella of the BARMM government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Al-Barka Administrative Officer Mahmod Kitabin graced the ceremonial program.

The LKB is the BYC’s relief assistance that aims to reach 2,500 vulnerable youth across the region’s five provinces and opt-in areas as part of its efforts to lessen the adverse effects of the pandemic.

The program started its first wave in 2020 since the beginning of lockdown and border limits due to the Covid-19. It already reached more than 200 youth organizations with more than 2,000 youth individuals. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
