COTABATO CITY (October 25, 2022) — The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Basilan with Lamitan City along with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) through the Barangay and Community Affairs Division (BCAD) conducted Training Workshop on the formulation of the Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP) on October 19-21, at Ever O Business Hotel, Zamboanga City.
The activity, which was participated by several youth leaders of Basilan and Sulu, aims to empower youth by providing knowledge on various aspects of leadership and governance, and how these can be contextualized in the Bangsamoro society.
BYC Project Development Officer Abdul Patta J. Asnawi discussed the Bangsamoro Youth Transition Priority Agenda (BYTPA), and BYC accreditation process for youth organizations and youth-serving organizations.
LYDP refers to the provincial, city, or municipal youth development plan as initially drafted by the SK Federation, finalized by the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) and approved by the Local Sanggunian.
It is anchored on the Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP), a comprehensive national plan expressing the convergence efforts of the different youth-serving national agencies, civil society organizations, and youth organizations designed to promote the general welfare, development, and empowerment of the youth in preparation for their vital role in nation-building.
The said activity was graced by the following officials: BCAD Asst. Division Chief Alibaer M. Pangandaman, MILG- Basilan Provincial Director Ra-diyah M. Akmad, MILG-City Director Indira-Patra Juainie, and Lamitan City Director II-OMS Fausiah R. Abdula.
Pursuant to Republic Act No.10742 or otherwise known as the “Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015”, all SK officials, whether elected or appointed, or any member of the LYDC must undergo the mandatory training programs before assuming office. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
