COTABATO CITY (November 30, 2022)– The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) – Basilan with Lamitan City through Office of Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil served as discussant during Leadership Empowerment and Participation (LEAP) Mentorship Training Program on November 25-27, 2020 at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil discussed Youth Participation in Governance where he underscored that youth should be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills as they will serve the Bangsamoro in the future.
“It is essential for the youth to be given with platform where they can participate in formal political processes, and for them to be properly represented, they must know their rights and be given the necessary knowledge and capacity to participate at all levels,” he said.
LEAP is a training and mentorship program for youth leaders aspiring to become change agents in either government–through the Sangguniang Kabataan, Local Youth Development Office–or civil society–through local youth organizations, and youth-serving organizations.
The activity was organized by the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) and Tayo na! Collaboratory for Young Leaders of Democracy conducting leaderdership, empowerment, and participation mentorship training and mentorship program for youth leaders.
LENTE and Tayo na! Collaboratory for Young Leaders of Democracy is a program that seeks to strengthen the youth local participation in the local level through supporting local youth coalitions and preparing SK candidates around 100 barangays across the Philippines. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
