BYC MagCotSGA takes part in VPDM Launching

COTABATO CITY (January 27, 2023) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) – Maguindanao with Cotabato City and Special Geographic Areas (MagCotSGA) took part in the launching of Volunteering Programme Development & Management (VDPM) held on January 25, 2023, at Em Manor Hotel, Kutawato Township, Cotabato City.

The launching aims to increase awareness of stakeholders on the VPDM course and support mainstreaming of volunteerism accross all spectrum of development in the society.

Several learning hubs in the government and private sectors across the region will be established to provide more opportunities for the youths to improve their employability skills and gain more knowledge and insights into entrepreneurial opportunities.

Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding, represented by BYC Youth Development Officer Settie Ivy C. Ampatuan, highlighted several programs of BYC that contributed to the reduction of unemployment in the region.

Among the presented projects were Alay Kabuhayan Para sa Kabataang Nangangailangan, Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Peace and Environmental Youth Camp, Ideation Impact Challenge, Youth Volunteers Program, and skills scholarship training grant, among others.

“I believe very dynamic yong team po natin na nandito ngayon. We have from the non-government organization, from government and ofcourse the international organization na pare-pareho po tayo ng goal and objective to uplift the living condition of the people in the BARMM region,” Ampatuan said.

“The commission never stops para makahanap and to address the plights and adventures of the young people in the region.” Ampatuan added.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), and Voluntary Service Overseas Philippines (VSOP) led the said launching.

BYC, as the policy-making and coordinating body of the region on youth affairs, initiates to institutionalize programs and activities in the region particulary lobbying policies for the young people. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
