BYC, MILG strengthen coordination for SK, youth dev’t

To strengthen coordination on Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and youth development in the region, the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) held a meeting today, March 6, at Bangsamoro READi Conference Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

The inter-agency meeting highlighted a discussion on collaborations of both offices on the development of contextualized modules and learning materials for the SK Mandatory Training, as well as continued partnerships on implementing the training.

Present during the meeting were BYC Commissioners Nasserudin Dunding and Pratima Sabal-Samsaraji, MILG Operation Management Director Fausiah Abdula, and other employees of BYC and MILG.

Sharing data on research on youth situations and youth assessment and other research information was also among the agreed points in the meeting.

Since 2021, the BYC acted as a service provider in SK Mandatory Training and Continuing Mandatory Training to Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) Members and Local Youth Development Officers (LYDO).

BYC and MILG successfully trained hundreds of SK officials, LYDC Members and LYDOs in 2021 and 2022 across the Bangsamoro region.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10742 or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, all SK officials, whether elected or appointed, or any member of the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) must undergo the mandatory training programs before assuming office. (BYC PR Unit/KAA)
