BYC participates in the Sharing Together for Online Resiliency among Youth

COTABATO CITY (June 16, 2023) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission, represented by Project Development Officer Aira Hazna Ampatuan, participated in the Sharing Together for Online Resiliency among Youth (STORY) Regional Conference on June 9–13 at the Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Organized by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Counter Terrorism (SEARCCT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, the five-day activity aims at raising awareness about the significance of digital resilience and Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE), as well as fostering discussions among the youth and their peers regarding the critical consumption of online information.

The said activity provided the participants with a platform to collaborate with their fellow youth leaders and stakeholders to identify challenges, solutions, approaches, and strategies to enhance their digital literacy and resilience.

Moreover, it also served as an avenue to strengthen trust and cooperation among governments, youth, and stakeholders advocating for peace and unity in the regional community.

Among the expected outcomes of the activity is the identification of problem statements that are either similar or different among their countries. The collective understanding of the said issues will aid in designing social media campaign strategies that can reach a larger young audience, such as short motion videos.

Further, the data obtained from surveys and social media analytics will help enhance digital resilience among youth and provide appropriate solutions.

The workshop sought to establish a group of regional peace messengers who would continue their efforts beyond the event. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
