Youth champion shares success story as topnotcher in March 2023 LET

COTABATO CITY (June 19, 2023) – Al-Zaheer Adil Abubakar, 23, graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) of Notre Dame University- Cotabato, shares his success story as one of the topnotchers in the recent March 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) 2023, during Bangsamoro YoutHour’s 53rd episode, on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Adil, sharing his study hacks, emphasized the importance of focus and balanced approach to studying. Recognizing both diligence and self-care, he upheld a structured study routine while also taking breaks to engage with activities that serve as self-reward.

“Focus is really important. Attentive listening backed with detailed note taking — these two things helped me recall much about the discussion. Moreover, I do not just settle for the information provided by the discussant, I tried integrating the concepts in the real-life context. I searched for drills related to it and test myself,” Adil said.

“When I get to know the answer, whether correct or not, I still try to analyze ‘the whys and how’s’…I always ask myself of what went well and what went right. I think discovering the answer alone is not sufficient, we must go beyond. That’s ‘hitting two birds with one stone’. Also, don’t forget to give yourself sometime to recharge,” Adil added.

Meanwhile, his motivation during the exam stemmed from his desire to repay the sacrifices of his family and the people close to him.

“I was at my lowest during my journey, but my family and friends were there to support and uplift me. My mentors guided me whenever I had heavy decisions. I’m beyond grateful for having these people at my back. They are instrumental to my success,” he emphasized.

Among the challenges he encountered was adapting in his new environment. He experienced culture shock, particularly with adjusting to the language of the people he met.

When asked about his future plans, Adil wants to continue his academic journey by pursuing higher education that aligns with his passion for teaching. He hopes to utilize his knowledge and to make a positive impact with his fellow youth.

Adil reminded his fellow youth to use pressure as motivation to perform their best.

“When you graduate, the first thing you do is reflect and ponder upon the things you’ve learned. This will help you determine what you know and what you don’t, making things easier for you when you get to the review center,” said Adil.

“Challenges are inevitable, but above all, let us continue our endeavors and incorporate them with prayers. Let us keep praying and always thank the Almighty, regardless of whether we pass the exam or not. Let us not pay attention to other people’s opinions about us because passing the exam requires a lot of effort. Above all, let us continue to fight for our dreams,” he added. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
