BYC Commission Proper recognizes outstanding Bangsamoro youth athletes

COTABATO CITY (July 26, 2023) — In the recent En Banc session of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), the Commission Proper adopted a resolution recognizing the outstanding performances of Bangsamoro youth competing in international sports events, particularly in the 32nd SouthEast Asian (SEA) Games which was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The said resolution commended and congratulated Ms. Fatima Ayesha Amirul, a native of Tawi-Tawi province, for her remarkable feat in winning the gold medal in the women’s soft tennis competition.

While Mr. Alnakran Abdilla, also a native of Tawi-Tawi province, secured the bronze medal in men’s beach volleyball competition.

Under Section 19, Article XIV of the 1987 Constitution, it emphasizes the State’s responsibility to promote physical education and encourage sports programs, league competitions, and amateur sports, including training for international competitions, to foster self- discipline, teamwork, and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry.

Moreover, the recognition aligns with the provisions of Section 13, Article IX of RA No. 11054, also known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law, which emphasizes the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to promoting the mental and physical fitness of the youth through sports.

BYC Tawi-Tawi Commissioner Pratima Sabal Samsaraji, who authored the resolution, said that the Commission proudly acknowledges their remarkable feat for bringing immense pride and honor to the Bangsamoro region through their exceptional sporting achievements.

BYC as the primary policy-making and coordinating body of the Bangsamoro government, aims to propose policies that duly recognize the significant contributions of young achievers within the Bangsamoro region, as they excel in their individual fields of expertise. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
