BYC commemorates IYD with 4th SOBYA

COTABATO CITY (August 14, 2023) — The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) led this year’s regional commemoration of the International Youth Day with the 4th State of the Bangsamoro Youth Address (SOBYA), on August 12, in Cotabato City.

In its 4th SOBYA, BYC Chairperson Marjanie S. Macasalong highlighted the Commission’s remarkable accomplishments and aspirations, aimed at enhancing the well-being of the Bangsamoro youth.

“BYC, as the Bangsamoro Government’s policy-making and coordinating body  for all matters affecting the youth within the region, is committed to advancing the welfare and development of the Bangsamoro youth  by addressing their needs and concerns  through targeted policies and initiatives,” Macasalong said.

Marjanie further emphasized the significance of celebrating International Youth Day.

“Celebrating International Youth Day demonstrates our resounding affirmation  and recognition  of the intrinsic worth and potential  inherent in our Kabataang Bangsamoro,” Chairperson Marjanie said.

Chairperson Marjanie also delivered updates on the ongoing and dynamic advancements that revolve around youth empowerment. These encompassed comprehensive policy-research endeavors, assessment study, targeted youth-centric policies, and a strengthened commitment to fostering increased collaboration with key stakeholders of the Commission.

During the event, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim also graced the event by stressing the paramount significance of environmental preservation.  

“By investing in green skills, we can be at the forefront of innovation and development, driving sustainable results that complement the environment,” Ebrahim stated. 

On the same day, the awarding of seed grants to four accepted policy research proposals for the Ideation Impact Challenge (IIC) 2023 was also held.

Moreover, several members of the Parliament, heads of offices, chief executives, lawmakers, country representatives of non-government organizations, and different youth organizations in the region witnessed the said event.

The 4th SOBYA of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission, marks the culmination of Bangsamoro Government’s celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2023 and International Youth Day (IYD) 2023 with a theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.” (PR Unit/SAMN)
