BYC Basilan with Lamitan City observes IYD 2023, highlights accomplishments and Initiatives

COTABATO CITY (August 15, 2023) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission Basilan with Lamitan City under Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil marked the observance of International Youth Day 2023 with Pre-State of the Bangsamoro Youth Address highlighting significant accomplishments and future plans for the youth.

Under the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” the event emphasized the role of youth in environmental protection. BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong highlighted youth’s pivotal role in shaping the future and addressing environmental challenges.

The event spotlighted the Commission’s accomplishments from 2022 to 2023 -noteworthy initiatives included collaborations with local governments, agencies, and key stakeholders, aimed at fostering skills development, community engagement, and program implementation.

Notable achievements encompassed various programs that include preventing violent extremism awareness, voter education, peace and environmental camps, journalism and photography training, among others.

The BYC also revealed upcoming initiatives, such as the Youth Formation and Young Ulama Conference, as well as the construction of a youth center in Basilan.

Commissioner Tanjil expressed gratitude for the attendees’ presence and commitment to shaping a better future for Bangsamoro youth. The event concluded with a reminder of the collective effort required to create a positive impact on society.

“As a coordinating and policy-making body by nature, our commitment to service is our top priority. We address and cater to the issues and concerns of our youth with the integral support from our key potential partners, who are mandated to implement programs, projects, and activities affecting the youth of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.” he said.
