COTABATO CITY (March 8, 2024) – Several employees of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) joined the kick-off ceremony of National Women’s Month on March 8, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City.
Carrying the sub-theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!” emphasizes inclusivity and underscores the importance of acknowledging women’s capabilities in advancing societal progress fairly and rightfully.
In BARMM region, the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) leads the celebration of National Women’s Month.
BWC Chairperson Bainon G. Karon, in her message, notes that women’s participation is critical to the growth and development of the Bangsamoro.
“Through promoting gender equity, equality, and women empowerment in Bangsamoro, we can create a more equitable and empowering environment for every Bangsamoro, especially women, and achieve the overall goal of a cohesive, empowered, and progressive Bangsamoro,” Karon stated.
National Women’s Month is celebrated every March of the year by virtue of Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988.
Various BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), development partners, the national government, and women sectors also attended the ceremony. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
