COTABATO CITY (September 3, 2024)— The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) – Maguindanao, Cotabato City, and Special Geographic Areas concluded a series of voter’s education sessions on the BARMM Priority Codes, specifically focusing on the Bangsamoro Electoral Code (BEC), on August 30, 2024, in Cotabato City.
The voter’s education seminar aimed to educate youth leaders on the salient provisions of the BEC and enhance youth participation in the democratic processes of the Bangsamoro region.
BYC MagCotSGA Commissioner Nasserudin D. Dunding encouraged the participants to actively engage in political discussions and take an active role in shaping the future of the Bangsamoro region.
“Napakahalaga na kayong mga kabataan katulad ninyo, kailangan mag-groom kayo na mahalin at i-appreciate itong ganitong klaseng mga pag-uusap. At dumami pa yong mga katulad ninyo na nagkakaroon ng interest politically,” Dunding stated in his message.
Atty. Alianna Arnica A. Mambatao of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament discussed the salient features of BEC’s Implementing Rules and Regulations, particularly those involving the youth sector and the manner of the voting process.
She also shed light on the Parliament’s processes and structure, highlighting the significant differences between the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Moreover, during the discussions, the participants had the opportunity to engage, ask questions, and share their insights on the upcoming first elections in BARMM come mid-2025.
The event was attended by various youth-accredited organizations, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) representatives, and student leaders from Cotabato State University.
Meanwhile, a voter’s education information campaign was also held in Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and the Special Geographic Areas last August as part of the International Youth Day and Linggo ng Kabataan celebration. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
