Youth leaders from Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities convened at the IP Youth Leaders Conference organized by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA) on Tuesday, October 22, in Cotabato City.
BYC Ex-Officio Commissioner representing the IP communities, Andic Maningula, said the conference aimed to equip these young leaders with knowledge of their rights and heritage to address challenges they face.
During the conference, MIPA officially launched the Fusaka Inged Young Leaders Program, an initiative that aims to empower IP youth regarding their rights. MIPA Minister Melanio Ulama urged the young leaders to prioritize their education as a foundation for their future roles, calling it “a gift that can never be taken away.”
The conference offered young leaders an avenue to discuss issues related to education, ancestral domains, mental health, and youth leadership. (BYC PR Unit/KAA)
