COTABATO CITY (November 8, 2024) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) held a one-day After-Action Review of the series of activities of Youth Empowerment in the SPMS Box, a project funded under the Bangsamoro Government’s Special Development Fund (SDF).
The review, conducted on November 7 in Cotabato City, served as a platform for BYC to gather valuable feedback and insights from community facilitators and BYC personnel. This assessment aims to enhance the project’s impact on socio-economic and political inclusion, especially for out-of-school youth in the SPMS Box area.
The AAR focused on assessing key phases of the project, specifically from the onboarding sessions to the Capacity Development Training of community partners. It highlighted achievements, challenges, and actionable recommendations to guide future activities and ensure sustainable youth empowerment efforts.
Settie Ivy Ampatuan, OIC Chief of the Technical Services Division of BYC, emphasized the importance of this activity in evaluating project effectiveness and laying the groundwork for further improvement.
“The After-Action Review is crucial for us to determine the highs and lows of the project. This process will enable us to build on successes and address challenges as we plan the next phase of interventions,” Ampatuan said.
In the morning session, community facilitators from the eight municipalities of the SPMS Box shared insights on the project’s impact on their roles, as well as the challenges they encountered.
They also highlighted in their reflections how the initiative has positively influenced the personal and professional lives of the community partners.
During the afternoon session, with the involvement of both the Admin and Finance Division (AFD) and the Technical Services Division (TSD), the review provided a balanced perspective that aligns financial decisions with technical needs. This collaboration ensures that financial and technical goals are met effectively, enhancing the project’s overall impact.
BYC Chief of Admin and Finance, Nairah C. Manongcarang, underscored the importance of monitoring and evaluation as part of an organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, a policy forum and culmination event for the Youth Empowerment in the SPMS Box project will be held in December. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
