COTABATO CITY (Dec. 16, 2024) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) has adopted eight resolutions during its 7th Regular Commission Proper Meeting on Dec. 13, 2024, in Cotabato City.
The meeting delved into discussions of the approved 2025 Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) of the Commission, as well as the proportional budget allocation for the PPAs of the Office of the Commissioner. A presentation and review was made to ensure optimal resource distribution that aligns with priority initiatives.
Moreover, the Commission deliberated on the guidelines for the 2025 Regional Youth Assembly (RYA). This assembly brings together young individuals from across the region with the goal of facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and engagement with various agencies and organizations.
BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong presided over the meeting, which led to the adoption of eight resolutions aiming to advance youth development initiatives.
The adopted resolutions are as follows:
- A RESOLUTION URGING THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, NATURAL RESOURCES, AND ENERGY (MENRE) TO STRENGTHEN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF RA 9175 (CHAINSAW ACT OF 2002) IN BASILAN PROVINCE
- A RESOLUTION URGING THE MINISTRY OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT (MOLE) TO CONDUCT JOB CARAVANS IN BASILAN PROVINCE FOR ENHANCED JOB OPPORTUNITIES
- A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL NO. 2862: RESETTING THE FIRST REGULAR ELECTIONS IN THE BANGSAMORO AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO
- A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE POLICY ON STRENGTHENING PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT AND REHABILITATION FOR YOUNG FORMER COMBATANTS
- A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE POLICY ON COMMUNITY-BASED PARTICIPATORY STUDY ON PRACTICES THAT BUILD YOUNG MORO WOMEN’S ECONOMIC AND HEALTH RESILIENCE: SEARCH FOR POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS
- A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING TWENTY-FIVE YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS FROM MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE, COTABATO CITY, AND SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREAS FOR ACCREDITATION
- A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING CONCERNED MINISTRIES, OFFICES, AND AGENCIES IN THE BANGSAMORO AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO (BARMM) TO CONSIDER AND IMPLEMENT ACTIVITIES ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF YOUTH DISCUSSED DURING THE POLICY FORUM
- A RESOLUTION URGING THE MINISTRIES AND OTHER OFFICES OF THE BANGSAMORO GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE YOUTH OF THE ISLAND PROVINCES OF TAWI-TAWI, SULU, AND BASILAN THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING IN THE FIELD OF AQUACULTURE, AQUA FARMING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Meanwhile, Macasalong emphasized that the adoption of these resolutions marks a significant step toward achieving the Commission’s goals and ensuring that the needs and interests of the youth are prioritized. (BYC PR Unit/SAMN)
