BYC enlightens peace forum participants on building youth resilience

The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) – Lanao del Sur and Marawi City served as resource speaker on Saturday, Nov. 6, in the peace forum dubbed “Philippines in Focus: Co-creating Communities Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism” at Brgy. Sawir, Masiu, Lanao del Sur.

The forum featured a segment of the Examining Current Trends of Violent Extremism in Southeast Asia, an initiative directly aligned on the ASEAN Plan of Action supported by the U.S. Embassy-Philippines and implemented by the Association of Lady Shari’ah Counselors-at-Law of the Philippines, Inc.

BYC-Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, representated by Namerah Ambor, enlightened the participants on Building Youth Resilience in Conflict-affected Areas.

“We all know that every one of us must be involved to show strong resilience in the face of tropical storms. We have to come to terms with everything as a valuable learning experience, for us to continue our lives with having advocacies with strong faith, for the sake of Allāh,” Ambor said.

Also present in the event were the MSU-IIT Project Manager Assistant Dean Sittie NB Pasalandalan, U.S. Embassy-Philippines Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer Nina Lewis and the Association of Lady Shari’ah Counselors-at-Law of the Philippines, Inc. President Sittie Aliah Limbao. (BYC PR Section)
