BYC culminates Ideation Impact Challenge 2021

COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) culminates the Ideation Impact Challenge (IIC) 2021 through an awarding ceremony on Monday, November 22 at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Cotabato City.

The IIC 2021, which started in August 2021, is a call for proposal program for youth organizations that advocate for community peacebuilding and development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). It was organized by BYC in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through Youth Co:Lab, a regional initiative co-led with Citi Foundation and Makesense Philippines.

IIC 2021 was participated by 19 youth organizations from Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Special Geographic Areas, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu and Basilan.

The program was supported by the European Union (EU).

Prior to the awarding and closing ceremony was a project showcase exhibit event where the project pitching competition among the twenty participants was held.

During the awarding ceremony, the top 10 participants, or the IIC 2021 Champions, received ₱50,000.00 as seed funding for their projects, while the remaining nine finalists received ₱20,000.00 from BYC.

Five more youth organizations with projects that demonstrated sustainability through entrepreneurship received Special Award with ₱25,000.00 through Makesense.

BYC Chairperson Marjanie Macasalong said the IIC 2021 was to give an opportunity to the youth leaders to propose solutions to the identified problems of their community.

“I am hopeful that we were able to fulfill our goals to provide platforms for learning to develop your projects into more viable ones and to engage you youth leaders to become more productive members of society,” Chairperson Macasalong added.

He added that the program is a manifestation of the Bangsamoro Government’s mandate to the Bangsamoro youth as not only a recipient of different programs but an active citizen that contributes ideas and initiatives.

“Please make good use of these funds to grow your initiatives and aid in helping your respective communities,” Chairperson Macasalong added.

Also present in the ceremony were BTA Parliament Member Abdullah Hashim, BTA Majority Floor Leader Atty. Lanang Ali Jr., BYC–MagCotSGA Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding, BYC–Tawi-Tawi Commissioner Pratima Samsaraji, BYC–Sulu Commissioner Mohammad Faisal Alih and UNDP-Philippines Cotabato Field Office Head Winston Camariñas.
