BYC Basilan holds forum on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism

The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC)-Basilan held a forum on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) on Tuesday, November 23 in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.

The forum centered on “Youth Leaders: The Key in Preventing Violent Extremism That May Lead To Terrorism” that highlights the youth’s crucial role in preventing extremism and terrorism.

A number of youth leaders from Al-Barka, Ungkaya Pukan and Tipo -Tipo participated in the forum.

Tipo-Tipo Mayor Arcam Istarul said he is grateful of the BYC’s initiative as it would help in their town’s crafting of PCVE book.

BYC Basilan Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil also expressed his gratitude. He also shared BYC’s background and mandates as a policy-making and coordinating body of the Bangsamoro Government.

This forum covered different topics such as military intervention in PCVE by PLT. Jakaria J. Muin as represented by MESPO Taib Suhud.

Basic Concepts of PCVE were presented by Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) Special Investigator Ms. Juhra M. Kiman, and the Role of the Youth in PCVE that was presented by Young Visionaries of Basilan Chairman Ms. Nurhana M. Osamad. (BYC PR Section)
