COTABATO CITY — Youth champions’ significant contributions to their communities and in governance were highlighted during two special episodes of Bangsamoro Youth Hours on Wednesday, April 13.
Four youth leaders were invited as guests for episodes 14 and 15 of Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s online show dubbed “Bangsamoro Youth Hours: An Avenue for the youth to speak”, to highlight their notable engagements.
The two episodes are part of the celebration of BYC Week 2022 that bears the theme “BYC: Thriving for Excellence in Public Service for Bangsamoro Youth Today and Beyond in support of Moral Governance.”
Muhidin Kadilon, a delegate of the Bangsamoro Youth Parliament (BYP) 2021, shared his experiences during the conduct of the first-ever BYP.
He said the activity provided him with necessary knowledge and skills in understanding the Parliamentary Procedure as being utilized by the current Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament.
Moreover, he emphasized the struggles they faced during the drafting of the of bills, by which he reflected that implementing programs to the people does not happen overnight — rather it happens rigorously — and that people, instead of complaining, should do their part by supporting government initiatives.
Noraida Salagia, a youth leader of one of the Top 10 projects during the Ideation Impact Challenge (IIC) 2021, discussed their organization’s community initiative during the project pitching of the IIC.
Their initiative, Peace Camp, aims to equip the youth with needed expertise in order to address identified problem areas and provide feasible solutions that will enable them to impact positive changes in their community.
Meanwhile, faith-based organizations partnered by the Commission highlighted their programs specific to elevating religious consciousness among the youth.
Arham Kamensa, secretary-general of Guild for Ascension of the Bangsamoro by Actuating the Youth (GABAY), Inc., said, their organization envisions to alleviate Juvenile Delinquency one at a time. They would achieve this by providing discussions and lectures on the teachings of Islam in order for the young people to steer clear of troubles that would lead to committing a crime.
Some programs of GABAY include humanitarian initiatives for orphans by providing assistance on their basic needs such as relief packs, hygiene kits, among others.
Meanwhile, Juwairia Imam, vice president of Jumeyatul Mar-ah Al Muslimah Lilhaymanan (JMAL), Inc. , during her talk, said the organization aims to empower young women through education in the context of Islam.
JMAL provides different services and programs, to name a few: services on education, youth development services, religious services, Qura’n class, and humanitarian assistance, among others.
Bangsamoro Youth Hours streams every Thursday, 4 PM to 5 PM at the Facebook pages of Bangsamoro Youth Commission and Bangsamoro Media Productions and airs at DXAE FM 99.7 MHz radio station in Cotabato City. (BYC PR Unit)
