COTABATO CITY (May 8, 2023)- The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and Cooperative and Social Enterprise Authority (CSEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, May 3, in Cotabato City for partnership on implementing the second component of BYC’s Positive Peace Project (3Peace).
BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong and CSEA Executive Director Samcia Ebrahim signed the agreement.
The said MOU pertains to capacity development and cooperative formation for young combatants, where it intends to engage the 200 youth combatants with entrepreneurship, technical-vocational skills, values transformation, and leadership trainings.
Chairperson Macasalong emphasized that through the partnership, young combatants will have access to viable employment opportunities.
Positive Peace Project (3Peace) is a project that aims to reintegrate 200 – youth combatants in the society especially those not catered in the decommissioning phase of the normalization process – bringing them viable socio – economic opportunities such as trainings on leadership, technical – vocational skills, and entrepreneurship that is according to their interest, and yield appropriate policy actions from policy research at the end of the project.
The component 2, which begins in May, aims to provide beneficiaries with comprehensive training in knowledge and technical skills and will end as soon as the requirements are fulfilled.
The program is expected to develop policy papers aimed at protecting the welfare and rights of young combatants, and ensuring their vital performance as partners in the aspirations of the Bangsamoro Government.
