BYC Commission Proper adopts resolution extending BYTPA until 2025

COTABATO CITY (July 18, 2023) – The Commission Proper of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) has adopted on Wednesday, July 19, a resolution extending the effectivity of the Bangsamoro Youth Transition Priority Agenda (BYTPA) until 2025 to ensure the alignment of youth-focused programs in the region.

The said resolution was adopted during the fifth regular session of the Commission Proper where BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong highlighted that the extension of the BYTPA’s effectivity will provide the necessary framework to sustain the momentum of its accomplishments and to address both emerging and persistent issues faced by the Bangsamoro youth effectively.

The BYTPA, which was created to address the urgent issues faced by the young people in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), is a consolidation of all youth agenda consulted from April-December 2019 by various youth organizations, development partners and others and they have submitted it to a Technical Working Group. The agenda was initially effective from 2019 until 2022, with the adopted resolution, it’s effectivity will be extended until BARMM’s transition period in 2025.

It serves as a comprehensive roadmap, aiming to improve the socio-economic conditions of the Bangsamoro youth, empower them, and promote sustainable development in the region.

The decision to extend the BYTPA’s effectivity was taken as the Bangsamoro youth continue to encounter unique challenges, including access to quality education, job opportunities, healthcare services, and meaningful engagement in governance, among others.

Chairperson Macasalong said extending the agenda is viewed as a crucial step towards sustaining the Commission’s efforts in advocating the welfare and development of the Bangsamoro youth.

Moreover, it will ensure that youth-focused programs and initiatives align with the broader development goals of the Bangsamoro government, fostering coherence in policy implementation. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
