BYC, partners conduct workshop to finalize 3Peace capdev component design

The capacity development component of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s (BYC) Positive Peace Project (3Peace) is now poised for implementation as BYC and its partner agencies have finalized the project component’s design and work plan through a joint workshop held on August 22 in Cotabato City.

The workshop was attended by representatives from BYC, IMPACT, Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education-Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD), Cooperative and Social Enterprise Authority (CSEA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Scheduled to start in early September, the capacity development component will provide training to the selected group of 200 sons and daughters of Mujahideen. This training will cover leadership skills, social enterprise know-how, and technical-vocational skills.

BYC has previously signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with CSEA and MBHTE-TESD to formalize their collaboration for the project’s implementation.

The project’s first component started in December 2022 where BYC conducted a series of rapid area assessments and needs analyses across the 10 identified camps of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to identify pertinent interventions for the intended beneficiaries.

3Peace is a long-term project of BYC under the Special Development Fund that aims to capacitate former young combatants by training them in socio-economic competencies, ensuring their positive reintegration to become productive members of society, and translating their narratives into policy actions and development agenda.
