COTABATO CITY (Feb. 5, 2024) – The Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s provincial island offices, alongside several youth representatives and information officers from various institutions, participated in the Training of Trainers on Voters’ Education and Public Awareness Campaign Designing Workshop from Jan. 30 to Feb. 01 at the Formation Center, Isabela City, Basilan.
Spearheaded by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the event aimed to equip participants with skills for effective public awareness campaigns. Specifically, the training aimed to increase awareness and understanding of youth on participatory governance, parliamentary procedures, and voter rights and responsibilities, as well as enhance skills in peace advocacy and communications.
Moreover, the program aims to support youth in developing a contextualized voter education campaign plan and civic engagement plan, while also forging partnerships with youth organizations, public information officers, and other stakeholders to strengthen public awareness efforts on voter rights and responsibilities and parliamentary procedures.
Meanwhile, the previous session, held from Dec. 13-15 in Zamboanga City, drew 57 participants from 17 organizations representing various sectors across the Bangsamoro region. These participants have since initiated the development of roll-out plans in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, collaborating with other network organizations.
CRS is currently implementing the ‘Advancing Peace in the Bangsamoro through Empowered and Engaged Communities’ project in the island provinces of BARMM with funding support from the UK Government Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office.(BYC PR Unit/AAA)
