The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have reaffirmed their collaboration on programs for child protection and youth climate resilience in the Bangsamoro region.
BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong and UNICEF Chief of the Mindanao Field Office Andreas Wuestenberg signed multi-year work plans yesterday, May 20, signifying a continued commitment to these collaborative efforts.
Chairperson Macasalong highlighted the successful outcomes of BYC’s collaboration with UNICEF and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the UN agency.
He also mentioned the progress of a bill in the Bangsamoro Parliament, which aims to establish a climate change commission in BARMM. He said the bill, a result of the Bangsamoro Youth Parliament (BYP) 2023 supported by UNICEF, marks a significant legislative effort toward environmental resilience.
In addition to his role as Chairperson, Macasalong serves as one of the 80 members of the Bangsamoro Parliament, where he advocates for youth-related policies in the region. (BYC PR Unit/KAA)
