NASSERUDIN D. DUNDING, MAPDS

Commissioner, Bangsamoro Youth Commission – BARMM

He was born in then conflict affected area of Barangay Dulangan, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on April 08, 1993. At early, his parents introduced first Arabic schooling before the formal ones or so called English at Mahad Alil Ameer Al-arabie from Ibtiddah to Mutawassit and at Mahad Al- azharie Al-arabie for his Thanawi level. In formal schooling, he finished his elementary education in Sero Central Elementary School for his grades 1 and 6, but his grades 2 to 5 was in J. Marquez Elementary School from 2001-2007. He finished his High School education at Cotabato City National High School- Main Campus in 2011 with various academic and extra-curricular awards such as but not limited to CCNHS Leadership award, Good Moral Character Award, Islamic Leadership Award and Service Award.

He entered college in 2011 at Cotabato City State Polytechnic College now Cotabato State University with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in English and graduated in 2015 with various distinctions and awards such as Leadership Award, Plaque of Recognition for being a member of CCSPC Board of Trustee, Best Speaker by the Provincial Government of Maguindanao’s Debate and Service Award. For five (5) years in College, he have served many positions as student leader such as: President for 4 years of MagPEACE Scholarship Program of the Provincial Government of Maguindanao from 2011-2015, Member and Editorial Board Member of The TORCH publication from 2012 – 2015, Board Member of the College of Education in 2012 – 2013, Vice Governor of the College of Education in 2013 – 2014 and elected as SSG President in 2014 – 2015.

In 2017, he enrolled in Notre Dame University College of Law and earned 16 units and then entered to Mindanao State University Maguindanao Graduate School where he finished his Master’s Degree on Peace and Development Studies in 2020. He has also a fellowship schooling with Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians since 2018 which is based in Singapore and allowed him to travel to Asian democratic countries and set to graduate this year in Berlin, Germany. Currently, he is also enrolled for his PhD degree in Peace and Development in Cotabato State University.

By exposure and experiences, he have been in peacebuilding and humanitarian advocacies specifically advocating for youth empowerment and participation in nation-building for years. In 2017, he travelled for weeks to facilitate and participate in an orientation on effective humanitarian responses in the states of Naivasha and Kenya in South Africa and in same year, he have travelled with other MILF – MNLF – CSOs delegation to the states of Berlin and Dusseldorf in Germany and in Belgium for observing how parliamentary form of government works in preparation of BARMM then. In 2019, he has also travelled to Siem Reap, Cambodia to attend Peace Conference and expound the peace mechanisms and representation of youth in the Bangsamoro.

By professional work, he started working in 2015 as Assistant Training Officer for UnYPhil-Women, Inc. project with UNICEF Philippines, Local Peacebuilding Expert in 2016 for UnYPhil-Women, Inc. and giz Civil Peace Service, Deputy Program Manager of UnYPhil-Women, Inc. with Oxfam Pilipinas, Project Officer on Youth Engagement in forum Civil Peace Service in 2018 – 2020, Chief of Programs and Operations of Bangsamoro Youth Commission and later appointed as Commissioner representing Maguindanao Province with Cotabato City and 63 Barangays of North Cotabato.
