BYC, partners continue Sindaw Ramadhan 2022 in SPMS Box

MAGUINDANAO—The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) continued its third wave of Sindaw Ramadhan 2022 Islamic symposium on Monday, April 26, in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

This wave of the program was conducted in collaboration with the local government unit (LGU) of Shariff Aguak and two BYC-accredited youth organizations, the SPMS Box United Youth Leaders and the Council of Active Bangsamoro for Community and Educational Progress (CABCEP).

Over 600 participants, mostly Madrasah students, from several barangays of Shariff Aguak attended the symposium. Some officials of LGU of the town also graced the program.

The resource speakers, Shaykh Ali Budzal and Shaykh Zacaria Ishak highlighted the significance of Laylatul-Qadr (Night of Decree) and the best deeds to perform in the last ten days of Ramadhan.

SPMS Box is a collective term referring to the contiguous towns of Shariff Aguak, Pagatin (now Datu Saudi Ampatuan), Mamasapano, and Shariff Saydona Mustapha in Maguindanao, which are vulnerable to armed conflicts.

In his message, BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding encouraged participants to implement the Islamic knowledge and values they learned from the resource speakers.

“The best of people are those who are knowledgeable of their Islam religion. Before we study other fields of knowledge, we should first learn the teachings of our religion,” Dunding said in his local language.

Meanwhile, on the same day, BYC also distributed 150 iftar food packs to the students of Darul Dhikr Holy Qur’an Memorization Center, Inc. in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao as a part of the program.

Sindaw Ramadhan 2022’s first and second wave were conducted in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao and Kalanganan II, Cotabato City. Its two remaining waves will be conducted in Kabacan, North Cotabato and Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao this week.
