BYC joins 49th Kamahardikaan sin Tawi-Tawi, distributes educational kits to children

The Bangsamoro Youth Commission through the Office of BYC Commissioner Pratima Sabal-Samsaraji participated in the commemoration of the 49th Kamahardikaan sin Tawi-Tawi on Saturday, September 24 in Simunul, Tawi-Tawi.

Various activities were conducted, one of which was the booth contest participated by the Commission along with line agencies and 11 LGUs in Tawi-Tawi.

The Commission displayed its customized notebooks and leaflets which contain BYC’s organizational structure, vision, mission, and health protocol, among others.

The Commission also conducted Book Caravan where children were given educational materials such as books, pencils, and crayons, among others.

The Kamahardikaan Sin Tawi-Tawi or the celebration of the founding anniversary of Tawi-Tawi gathers the 11 municipalities of the province for a week of festivities, thanksgiving, and showcase of their rich culture, traditions, and bounties.

Before 1973, Tawi-Tawi was a part of Sulu province. The proclamation of Tawi-Tawi as a separate province by virtue of Presidential Decree 302 in 1973 was a significant historical event as it responded to the people’s clamor for self-governance and autonomy from Sulu. (BYC PR Unit/AAA)
