BYC Chair Macasalong speaks at MSU-Maguindanao’s 49th founding anniv

COTABATO CITY (October 4, 2022)—BYC Chairperson served as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the opening ceremony of Mindanao State University (MSU) – Maguindanao’s 49th founding anniversary celebration yesterday, Oct. 4, at MSU-Maguindanao, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

In his message, Macasalong lauded the University for its “hard work and dedication” to “building our youth for their progress and good for our Homeland.”

“Many of our competent working force in the Bangsamoro Government are graduates of this Institution, and if I may stress a bit, some of the Bangsamoro leaders are products of this University,” Macasalong added.

“For this reason, we continue to give thanks to the minds behind the creation of the MSU-Maguindanao,” he stressed.

This year’s founding anniversary celebration of the University carries the theme, “Celebrating Peace, Inclusivity, and Service.”

Meanwhile, Macasalong also highlighted that similar to the University’s vision, the Bangsamoro Government and the BYC in specific give priority to youth’s education.

“We engage our young generation for them to understand that their future lies on their education,” Macasalong said.

“We invest in our youth. We engage them. We travel even to remote areas for our office to convince them that there is no other way but education. We allocate the bulk of our budget for education,” he added.

The University’s week-long anniversary celebration features various activities and contests, including the Kadsagayan street dance competition, different ball games and literary competitions, Students Day, Employees’ Night, among others.

During the opening ceremony, BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding led the oath of sportsmanship of the student competitors and coaches and served as a judge of the Kadsagayan street dance competition held as a highlight of the ceremony.

The program was also graced by the presence of Member of the Parliament (MP) Rasul Ismael, former Congresswoman Bai Sandra Sema, Major Saber Balogan and 1Lt. Hock Guan De Leon of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Maguindanao Police Provincial Office Director Col. Roel Sermese, as well as notable MSU Board of Regents. (BYC PR Unit/KAA)
