BYC takes part in UVPN’s BYLC 2022

COTABATO CITY (December 9, 2022)—The Bangsamoro Youth Commission took part in the Bangsamoro Youth Leaders’ Convention (BYLC) 2022 of the United Voices for Peace Network (UVPN), Inc. held on Dec. 6 to 8, at Em Manor Hotel, Cotabato City.

During the program’s opening ceremony, BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong, in a video message, inspired the delegates sharing his youth advocacy journey.

“Remember that there is a place for everyone’s creative ideas as long as your heart and actions are in the right place. Your initiatives be it small or big create lasting impact in our society,” Chairperson Macasalong said.

Meanwhile, BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding, represented by his Chief of Staff Sohaila Macadato, expressed the Commission’s support for the program.

“The BYC gives its heartfelt support for the success of this program. Just like the recently concluded Bangsamoro Youth Parliament, we hope that through this, we will eventually produce more youth leaders equipped in the technicalities of policy recommendation, and advance these noble advocacies,” Commissioner Dunding said.

The BYLP 2022 served as an avenue for 80 youth leaders of youth-led organizations to discuss with the Bangsamoro Government key officials their policy recommendations.

During the program’s day two, BYC representative Settie Ivy Ampatuan served as a discussant in the roundtable discussion segment of the program.

During the discussion with the youth delegates, BYC representative Settie Ivy Ampatuan stressed that the Commission is strengthening its institutionalizations of youth programs through its more strengthen policy-making mechanisms, such as the Bangsamoro Youth Parliament (BYP).

Several members of the Bangsamoro Youth Coordinating Council (BYC) also joined as discussants.

BYC provides leadership in the formulation and initiation of regional policies and plans, and in the setting of priorities and direction on youth promotion and development programs and activities. (BYC PR Unit/KAA)
