BYC Lanao attends consultation on Bangsamoro Scholarship Act of 2022

Employees of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Lanao del Sur with Marawi City attended the consultation on the proposed Bangsamoro Scholarship Act of 2022 on January 8, 2023 in Mindanao State University-Marawi City.

The consultation aimed to discuss and exchange ideas and hear concerns among stakeholders on how to enhance the state of education in the region and how the bill will help the target beneficiaries.

The filed BTA Bill No. 140, also known as “AN ACT CREATING BANGSAMORO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, PROVIDING FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES” or the BANGSAMORO SCHOLARSHIP ACT OF 2022, aims to establish a scholarship program to aid and support Bangsamoro students who have graduated from senior high school in both public and private institutions in BARMM, particularly those whose families lack the means to pay for their education.

Youth Development Officer II Namera C. Ambor represented the BYC, who stated that the bill will be a significant step toward assisting the Bangsamoro youth in pursuing their dreams and, as a result, lifting them out of poverty through education.

Ambor added that BYC, as the primary policy-making body of the Bangsamoro Government on matters affecting the youth, supports the approved of the bill that promotes the welfare of the youth.
