BYC joins Bangsamoro Peace Forum

COTABATO CITY (April 4, 2023) — The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) joined the Bangsamoro Peace Forum on Friday, March 31, to culminate the celebration of the Bangsamoro History Month in Cotabato City.

BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong, who is also a Member of Bangsamoro Parliament, was joined by MP Nurredha Misuari and MP Atty. Mary Ann Arnado to share their insights on the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and Women in sustaining the gains of the peace process.

The youth, according to Chairperson Macasalong, have played a significant role in advancing the peace process with revolutionary groups in Mindanao. Macasalong noted that the signing of the CAB stands as a crucial milestone in this process, as it reflects the aspirations of various revolutionary groups in the region.

Macasalong highlighted the youth’s powerful social drive and stressed the importance of their participation in promoting peace and stability.

The CAB, signed in 2014, aims to establish a new autonomous political entity known as the Bangsamoro, replacing the existing Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The agreement is a product of years of negotiations between the government and various revolutionary groups in the region.

Meanwhile, Majority Floor Leader Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba also shared significant provisions of the recently passed Bangsamoro Electoral Code.

This year’s celebration was anchored on the theme “Enhancing National Unity by Mainstreaming Bangsamoro History.” (BYC PR Unit/RMM)
