COTABATO CITY (September 14, 2023) — The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Lanao del Sur with Marawi City, in collaboration with the League of Ulama, Imams, and Khutaba of Butig held the 2nd General Islamic Symposium on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Butig, Lanao del Sur.
Themed “Siyapn so agama ka an maparihala so ingud go pagtaw,” the event aimed to foster discussions revolving around Islamic faith and its relevance in addressing various societal issues, particularly those faced by the Bangsamoro youth.
The symposium featured prominent figures, including Mayor Atty. Dimnatang L. Pansar of Butig, along with Shiekh Ahmad Nur Salindawan, Dr. Abu Mueen Hakim Masa, Shiekh Abul Fida, Dr. Hasan Mustapha, Shiekh Nasrodden Ibn Abdullah, representatives from Islamic institutions, leaders, and organizations.
Meanwhile, a similar initiative also occurred this year in Cotabato City, where the BYC organized the Young Ulama Peace Conference. This event brought together young Muslim scholars from different organizations with the goal of equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
